Artist in France during the early 19th century formed a revolutionary artistic movement that diverged from the romanticist and realist paintings of their time to paint nature and everyday life outdoors using new “sketch-like” techniques and pigmented applications of paint. In its wake, this artistic revolution influenced a new generation of European and American Post-Impressionist artists that experimented further using abstract and expressionist applications of paint, subject, forms and colors.
Today there are numerous works by Impressionist and Post-Impressionist artists in numerous mediums all over the world.
